Willy Gnonto makes ‘dream’ Leeds United admission after latest milestone

Willy Gnonto has admitted that joining Leeds United “felt like a dream” after he made his 100th appearance for the Whites.

Leeds’ 3-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday provided not only three points but also a chance for Gnonto to become a Whites Centurion, with his 84th-minute introduction resulting in his landmark appearance.

The Italian has been a crucial figure at Elland Road ever since signing and, speaking via an Instagram post [21 January], he said he could never have dreamt about what he has achieved.

His post reads: “100 appearances for Leeds United, I never dreamt I would play 100 games for this incredible club.

“Coming here felt like a dream for my family and me and having the chance to represent everyone affiliated to this club is always an honour and a big responsibility.

“Thank you to all my teammates, the fans and everyone at Leeds United for all the support and love I’ve received since the first day I arrived here.

“During the season it’s difficult to get time to look back and reflect as we focus on the games ahead but it’s amazing to see the memories so far and I look forward to making many more together.”
