Willy Gnonto likely to play u-21s game as he looks to make Leeds United debut

Leeds United summer signing Willy Gnonto has been thrown in the mix to feature in the under-21 game against Southampton on Friday.

According to LeedsLive, the fact that the 18-year-old has made 70 senior appearances in his career will mean that he will want to play for the Leeds first team.

However, before making his Whites debut, there’s a good chance that fans will see a glimpse of him in the under-21s.

Marsch watch

It’s fair to say that Jesse Marsch will be watching the game on 16 September and there’s a very good chance that he may be at the stadium as well.

A number of his first-team players are going to be at the game and Gnonto, a player he’s an admirer of, is in contention to be in action for any Leeds side for the first time ever.

Fans will certainly be looking forward to seeing more of the player after he was signed on transfer deadline day.

A day that was filled with twists and turns finally saw the Italy international being the chosen one and he’s going to want to play senior football.

Having multiple caps for Italy means that he’s already at a level where he expects to be playing regularly and if not every game, at least being in contention for top-flight games.

This match against Southampton will be ideal to show just how good he is and a solid performance may see Marsch make the quick call to promote him to the bench as well for the Aston Villa Premier League game.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have reached an agreement to sign a left-back, according to his agent.
