Willy Gnonto and Illan Meslier certain to leave Leeds United on one condition – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson believes Leeds United have “no chance” of holding onto Illan Meslier and Willy Gnonto if they’re relegated from the Premier League.

TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook revealed on Tuesday morning (18 April) that Gnonto is pushing for a move away from Elland Road already.

Meslier has also been linked with the exit door and Robinson feels relegation would make it impossible for Leeds to keep hold of the pair.

“No chance, they’ve got no chance of holding onto any of those players if they’re relegated [Meslier/Gnonto],” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“Those types of players have proved that they’re capable of playing at the top level. Meslier has been poor for the last few months. I think he needs to concentrate on his performance and get himself back to the level he knows he can hit.

“He was excellent in the first half of the season but there have been a lot of goals that have gone in that have not been his fault, but he could affect them and do something about it. He can play at the top level but I think if he wants a top move he needs to rediscover his form.

“Gnonto, without a doubt [could leave], as top clubs in Italy are looking at him and he’s a big part of the national team set-up. He would be right under the manager’s nose and I can understand that.”
