'Will get done' - Alan Nixon provides major update in Leeds hunt for target wanted last summer

Leeds United will sign Wigan attacker Sean McGurk at some point in the future, according to transfer guru Alan Nixon.

The Whites first made an offer for the 17-year-old in the summer but that bid was knocked back by Wigan’s administrators.

Earlier this month, Nixon claimed that Leeds had made another offer which had also been turned down by the club.

On Monday, Nixon replied to a Leeds fan on Twitter who asked if the Whites had gone back in for the highly-rated attacking midfielder.

He said, “That will get done at some point. Either an improved bid now or in the summer.”

The fan then asked if McGurk has his heart set on a move to Elland Road, to which Nixon replied, “I think the move is attractive for him.”

This report is in keeping with how Leeds are expected to operate over the last few weeks of the January transfer window.

The club are only expected to make signings for the Under 23s with fresh first-team recruits only being brought in if a long-term target suddenly becomes available.

If McGurk did join this month then he would go straight into the Under 23s to continue his development.

It seems as though the knocked back offers have not deterred the club in the slightest which suggests that McGurk is highly rated with Leeds not willing to let the youngster move elsewhere.

It certainly feels like this transfer will occur at some point with Leeds still wanting the 17-year-old and the player reportedly wanting to move to Elland Road.

Hopefully, this transfer saga is concluded shortly so we can watch the development of a fine young attacking talent.
