Will Ferrell news could lead to ‘Lucrative’ new Leeds United series on streaming giants

Streaming giants could compete to air a new Leeds United series after investment from Will Ferrell was shared at Elland Road, according to the Sun.

The newspaper has reported on its website that following the success of programmes like Welcome to Wrexham, which Ferrell features in, a second series on the Whites could be on the cards.

Ferrell has purchased a stake in the Elland Road club as the latest of several celebrity investors associated with owners 49ers Enterprises, as Leeds prepare to face the Championship play-offs.

Leeds aren’t alien to a club-focused documentary, and it is now suggested that another lucrative series could be on the cards to follow “Take Us Home” on Amazon.

Celebrity links leave Leeds United in position to grow

Leeds United have been described as a “sleeping giant” and that status is one of the things which attracted Ferrell towards investing in the club.

Amazon’s Take Us Home series documented the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons at Elland Road, as Marcelo Bielsa finally woke that giant, taking the Peacocks back to the Premier League after a 16-year wait.

However, just four seasons later, the Whites are back in the second tier, after three years in the top flight which saw Bielsa sacked midway through the second, and a series of managerial failures followed to end in relegation.

The 49ers want to take Leeds back to the top, and if the connections brought about by Ferrell’s position as an investor do yield a new documentary series, it will – as is often the case with this club – be unmissable viewing.

Leeds’ task currently at hand is on the Championship play-offs though, and before they can even think about a Wembley showdown with Southampton or West Brom, Daniel Farke’s side must get past his former employers Norwich in the semi-finals.

Premier League status will transform the landscape for what the 49ers can do at Leeds, and if the Whites make an immediate top-flight return, don’t be surprised to see more big names follow in Ferrell’s footsteps.

In other Leeds United news, a new stumbling block has emerged in the Whites’ transfer push for Joe Rodon.
