Will Ferrell boardroom clarity emerges as Phil Hay reacts to ‘major’ Leeds United claim

Phil Hay has revealed that Will Ferrell has only joined Leeds United as a “minority” investor after a “major” claim had been made.

Writing via The Athletic (5 May), Hay detailed that Ferrell has purchased “a small stake” in Leeds, becoming the latest high-profile minority investor at Elland Road.

It comes after The Sun reported (4 May) that the 56-year-old Hollywood actor had purchased a “large” stake in Leeds.

Hay claims that the club’s general partners, from 49ers Enterprises, remain in day-to-day control.

Leeds United should remain optimistic ahead of Championship play-offs

This is just another example of the exciting era which is upon Leeds United supporters at Elland Road.

Despite a fantastic Championship campaign, the Whites missed out on automatic promotion and must now place their Premier League hopes in the hands of the dreaded play-offs.

But even if Daniel Farke’s side are unsuccessful in making a return to England’s top flight at the first time of asking, this continued investment at Elland Road demonstrates something big is brewing in West Yorkshire.

All these high-profile names being involved with the club can only be a good thing going forward, with Leeds now exposed to a much wider audience, which will bring with it both commercial and financial benefits.

There is every chance that Leeds go ahead and win the play-offs, but if they don’t, supporters should certainly be confident of their side achieving automatic promotion to the Premier League next season.

In other Leeds United news, Farke was left raging after a “nasty” incident in the clash with Southampton.
