Wigan come up with suitable financial terms as Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt set to move on loan
Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt is reportedly on his way to Wigan after the two clubs have reached a financial agreement.
According to Wigan Today [19 January], the finances in the deal are acceptable to the striker as well as he appears set for a loan exit this month.
Gelhardt has featured sparingly for the Whites and has not done enough to convince Jesse Marsch that he deserves more game time.
It makes a lot of sense for Leeds to loan out Gelhardt and take advantage of the number of sides that are keen on securing his services.
He is a young striker with bucketloads of potential and the best way for him to unleash it is by playing regularly.
That surely was not going to happen at Leeds, more so after they broke their transfer record to secure the services of Georginio Rutter.
The Frenchman’s arrival puts Gelhardt further down the pecking order and it’s the best move for all parties for him to leave and get some game time.
Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo will soon need replacing and there’s a very good chance that Gelhardt steps right into their shoes in the coming years.
He loves Leeds and does not show any signs of wanting to break free for good so it’s a perfect scenario and one that the club needs to take advantage of.
