What Bielsa said about West Brom & Brentford after Leeds win 1-0 v Barnsley
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will not pay any attention to West Brom and Brentford over the next couple of days.
Slaven Bilic’s side take on Huddersfield on Friday night before Brentford play at Stoke 24 hours later.
Leeds – as usual – play last out of the top-three with fans not getting the chance to watch them play Derby County at Pride Park on Sunday.
The Whites could already be promoted to the Premier League before they kick off in the East Midlands if results from the West Brom and Brentford games go their way.
But Bielsa will not be watching either of those games.
“No. We always think that what we are able to get depends on us,” Bielsa said after the match, as quoted by LeedsLive.
Most managers would probably lie through their teeth when they say they’re not going to watch a rival play on television but with Bielsa, we totally believe him.
If Bielsa has shown us anything over his two years in charge is that he means every single word he says and is only ever focussed on his team’s next match.
If West Brom and Brentford draw or lose in the next couple of days then Bielsa probably won’t even bat an eyelid. He’ll still be thinking about the best way to deal with Wayne Rooney or how he’s going to get Patrick Bamford to stick one in the back of the net at Pride Park. He won’t be thinking about the teams in second and third.
For him, the number one priority is Leeds.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are eyeing a swoop for two strikers.
