Weston McKennie value slashed by 25% at Leeds United amid Brighton transfer development

Leeds United ace Weston McKennie’s value has been slashed by 25 per cent, with Brighton chasing his signature, according to Tutto Juve.

The American international is currently on a season-long loan at the Whites from Serie A giants Juventus.

There is a purchase option included in his temporary deal, but Brighton are reportedly now keen on his services.

“Weston McKennie is a goal of Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton for next season, according to Tutto Juve. “The Juventus midfielder is on loan at Leeds United until the end of the season, with a purchase option for €33million (£29million).

“The player’s price has dropped to €25million, but Juventus would like at least €30million.”

One to watch

This will be an interesting transfer development to keep an eye on this summer, with Leeds unlikely to capture McKennie’s services permanently.

It remains to be seen if he has wowed the powers that be at Elland Road since making the switch from Italy, while the midfielder himself may decide against a move anyway.

McKennie will believe that he can play at a higher standard than Leeds, with the Whites having no chance of securing his services if they drop down to the Championship.

It is also unlikely that he will stay with Juventus for another year, so Brighton may just find themselves in a very strong position to land his signature this summer.

Of course no such dealings will be down behind the scenes at Elland Road until this nervous season draws to a close, but it seems that McKennie will come away relatively happy, having played regular Premier League football and with a good opportunity to keep on doing that next season.

In other Leeds United news, one Whites youngster is reportedly going to be watched through the under-20 World Cup by Real Madrid.
