Weston McKennie too good for Leeds United as personal terms agreed for transfer - Alexi Lalas
Former United States international Alexi Lalas has claimed Weston McKennie is too good to be moving to Leeds United.
Although Lalas is pleased to see McKennie in the Premier League, he has suggested the United States international is “better” than his potential future employers.
Better than Leeds?
Leeds are a club who are clearly trying to take themselves to the next level and closer to the so-called big six clubs that typically dominate the Premier League. To bridge the gap, signings like McKennie simply have to be made. He’s one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe and will add further international quality to the Whites’ midfield.
If he does complete his move to Elland Road, he will add competition for the likes of Tyler Adams and Marc Roca in the midfield, which was probably an area of Jesse Marsch’s squad which did need a slight facelift. If the Whites can get a deal for the 24-year-old over the line it will mark yet another ambitious move from the board.
Marsch has been heavily backed since his arrival, with very few managers in the Premier League receiving a similar level of support. The unfortunate side-effect for the American is that results simply have to come in the coming weeks if he wants to prove he’s the right man to take the club forward.
