Weston McKennie opens Leeds United transfer in last few hours on Thursday

Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie has “opened the transfer” to Leeds United on Thursday 26 January, according to Pazzi di Fanta.

The Italian outlet has reported on its website that the American international made the decision over the “last few hours”, with a deal seemingly closer now.

However, McKennie has still been training with Juventus this week with footage emerging from their training base as they prepare for their next game.

Paul Pogba is said to be closing in on a return to action at Juventus, something that could be good news for Leeds.

With the Frenchman back playing, it could open the door for McKennie to make his swift exit in the final days of the January window, with a fee being agreed the last hurdle.

It comes after Fabrizio Romano reported on January 25 that personal terms had been agreed between the player and club for a late window deal.

With McKennie open to the move and already agreeing on terms, it is all down to Victor Orta now.

The Spaniard needs to work his magic in order to get Juventus happy and green-lighting the move for a reasonable fee that doesn’t stretch Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers Enterprises too much.

If this last move is finalised for the first team, it would quickly make this January one of our best ever at Elland Road, after Max Wober and Georginio Rutter already signed on.

McKennie could complete our midfield and finally give the fans what they have been shouting for in the stands for what feels like years at Elland Road.

Last season, Marcelo Bielsa and Marsch himself had to deal with injury-prone Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw, with Mateusz Klich also struggling to cement his spot.

Now, Tyler Adams and Marc Roca are running things in there, and they could now be joined by McKennie to make the midfield trio irresistible compared to what we have seen before.

All eyes are on West Yorkshire right now, with the potential for a late January deal getting stronger with each passing day.
