Paul Robinson was blown away by Weston McKennie after the Leeds United midfielder produced a “fantastic” moment during the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra saw Javi Gracia’s side come from behind to secure a huge three points on Tuesday evening (4 April).

McKennie enjoyed his best game since his January move from Juventus and Robinson was left in awe by a first-half pass from the American.

“Weston McKennie picks up the ball and it’s a great run by Harrison,” said the Sky Sports pundit (Premier League World Feed coverage, 20:01, 5 April).

“He just gets on Toffolo’s shoulders and he tries to make the connection. It’s a fantastic through ball by McKennie and a great run by Harrison.”

Impeccable

That’s the McKennie we all expected. He was tenacious, physical, creative, and a livewire at the heart of the Whites’ midfield. With Tyler Adams now out for a considerable amount of time, someone needed to step up and the 24-year-old did exactly that.

He dovetailed superbly with the excellent Marc Roca and the pair could be a vital cog in Leeds’ fight to beat relegation back to the Championship. All in all, that was probably the most complete performance under Gracia. The early goal didn’t stop halt their momentum, as they responded efficiently in the first half.

Harrison was another standout performer, with the winger causing Harry Toffolo all sorts of problems down the right-hand side all evening. It’s absolutely vital that Gracia’s men build on their performance during Sunday’s fixture against Crystal Palace (9 April).

Roy Hodgson’s side are coming off of a win against Leicester and are also looking to ease their own relegation woes.
