Weston McKennie agent confirms completed transfer to Leeds United on Instagram

Weston McKennie’s agent has accidentally confirmed his transfer to Leeds United as the midfielder edges closer to a move to Elland Road.

The Whites have agreed on a loan-to-buy deal with Juventus with the 24-year-old currently in Yorkshire undergoing medical tests before completing his transfer.

However, McKennie’s agent, Wassermansoccer, posted an image (Instagram, 30 January) of the United States international and confirmed his move to Elland Road before an official announcement from the club. The post was quickly deleted moments later.

This is a superb piece of business from the club to get this deal over the line and there should be plenty of excitement for when McKennie lines up in the centre of midfield. He knows Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson very well and it will be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make in West Yorkshire.

The 24-year-old midfielder has international experience and adds further quality to Jesse Marsch’s squad. This is a serious show of ambition from the board and could well be an exciting sign moving forward. The pressure is now firmly on the Whites’ head coach to ensure his side find some much-needed consistency in their performances.

This squad is far too talented to be languishing near the bottom of the Premier League table and there’s more than enough quality to see them rapidly climb the table.

Sunday’s clash against Nottingham Forest promises to be another crucial fixture in Leeds’ fight against relegation and there could well be a number of new faces in the starting lineup at the City Ground.
