Sky Sports pundit destroys ‘awful’ Crysencio Summerville for what he did in Leeds United clash vs West Brom

Andy Hinchcliffe slammed Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville for an “awful” piece of defending against West Brom.

Summerville failed in his attempt to clear a West Brom corner as he skewed the ball back behind for another set-piece on the opposite side.

Sky Sports commentator Gary Weaver described the attempted clearance as “interesting”, but Hinchcliffe alongside him had a stronger take.

“Interesting is one word for it, awful is another,” Hinchcliffe said on Sky Sports Main Event [29 December, 8:39pm].

Sloppy

Summerville’s defending was a perfect example of what often happens when attacking players are asked to get back for corners.

The Dutchman failed to set himself and conceded another set-piece, albeit one that did not come to anything.

Had an Albion player converted from that next corner kick, Daniel Farke would no doubt have had some strong words to say to Summerville.

That pretty much summed up Leeds’ first-half showing at The Hawthorns as they failed to really get going at both ends of the field.

Summerville in particular had a tough time of things and also had an injury scare, but he was able to play on in the West Midlands.

Some wingers and strikers seem to thrive on helping out defensively, but on the basis of this example, that is not the case for Summerville.

In other Leeds United news, Farke has shared how long he expects Pascal Struijk to miss after sitting out the West Brom game.
