West Brom star Matheus Pereira nowhere near Leeds United transfer priority

West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira isn’t a priority signing for Leeds United this summer, according to LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross.

Pereira, 25, had a stunning debut season in the Premier League despite West Brom’s relegation, scoring 11 goals and supplying six assists in 33 top-flight appearances.

The Express has reported that the Whites are among a number of clubs who are interested in signing the Brazilian playmaker, who’s valued up to £30million by the Baggies.

However, Cross suggests a deal for Pereira is unlikely and he expects Leeds to look elsewhere for deals this summer.

“On Pereira, he’s someone Leeds are aware of, but so is the rest of the Premier League and Europe,” said Cross on the LeedsLive website.

“They will keep an eye on him, but I don’t think he will be anywhere near the list of priorities. Expect his price to rocket when the bids start going in.”

That’s a shame

Pereira has shown he’s way too good for the Championship and too good to be battling against relegation from the Premier League in his two seasons at West Brom.

We saw in the Championship how good the former Sporting CP attacker can be while this season, he improved more and more as it went on.

The 25-year-old scored a couple of sublime goals too, including a long-range free-kick against Everton and a stunning solo effort away at Arsenal in the match the Baggies were ultimately relegated in.

Pereira’s proven he can perform in the Premier League and we feel as though it might be a mistake if Leeds didn’t have a proper go at signing him this summer.

Sure, it could cost a lot of money but for us to elevate from the position we’re in now, Andrea Radrizzani needs to splash the cash a bit.

Pereira’s an attacking midfielder who’s at his best when playing behind a striker while he can also feature out on the right-wing, cutting inside onto his favoured left-foot.

While we have plenty of wingers, a new central player wouldn’t go amiss.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this international goal machine who’s valued at over £10million.
