Welsh media react to Joe Rodon after what Leeds United star did v Iceland
Joe Rodon earned rave reviews from the media after the Leeds United star helped Wales beat Iceland 4-1 at home on Tuesday.
Making his 50th international appearance, the centre-back played the full 90 minutes as Wales finished atop the UEFA Nations League B Group 4 table on 19 November.
Reacting to Rodon’s performance, TNT Sports [19 November] rated him 7/10 and named him as a part of Wales’ “new guard” under Craig Bellamy, who is unbeaten since taking charge in July.
WalesOnline [19 November] also gave him a seven and wrote: “A solid outing on his 50th appearance for Wales. Made a couple of really important tackles.”
Y Clwb Pel-Droed [19 November], meanwhile, thought the Leeds United star was the team’s second-best player behind Liam Cullen.
The outlet wrote: “The best defender yet again for Wales as he picks up his 50th cap. He has been a rock at the back so far during the Bellamy era.”
Leeds United ace Joe Rodon shines for Wales v Iceland
The 4-1 victory over Iceland is Wales’ biggest win under Bellamy, who has won three and drawn three of his six games, so far. However, Rodon would have been gutted not to have helped the team keep a clean sheet.
He managed to do that against Turkiye on Saturday [16 November], however, as the Dragons held the hosts to a 0-0 draw in Kayseri.
Leeds, though, were left sweating over his fitness after a clash with Mark Harris in the first half. The Whites must have breathed a sigh of relief as the defender went on to play the full 90 minutes after bandaging up.

There is no doubt that Rodon has established himself as a key player for Wales under Bellamy.
The manager rates the 27-year-old highly and recently revealed that he wanted Burnley to sign him during his time as a first-team coach at Turf Moor.
In other Leeds United news, this Whites gem is facing an Elland Road exit after what happened on Tuesday, 19 November.
