'We must buy him', 'Pay whatever it takes' - Some Leeds fans react to Sky commentator claim
Leeds United fans have been urging the club to strike a deal for Brighton defender Ben White amid interest from Premier League giants Liverpool.
Sky Sports commentator Gary Weaver has this week offered an update on Liverpool’s pursuit of the 22-year-old, claiming that scout Andy O’Brien has watched him in almost every match he’s played this season.
Weaver made the claim on Sky Sports’ EFL podcast, adding that “big teams are interested” in the defender.
White has been on loan at Leeds from Brighton all season and has played a huge role in the strongest defence in the Championship.
It was always going to be a massive job for White to replace Pontus Jansson after the popular Swede left Elland Road to join Brentford in the summer. However the Liverpool target has been superb and interest in him is no surprise.
Now, Leeds fans want to see the club spring into action amid Liverpool’s keen interest in the defender.

One says that the Whites should “pay whatever it takes” to ensure that White is their player next season. But that is bound to depend on whether or not Leeds United is a Premier League club or not.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
We have to pay whatever it takes to buy him in the summer. In my opinion whatever we pay he'll be worth double in 5yrs time. If he goes to Liverpool he won't play for them yet as too soon. He'd be better served staying with us.

Love it if he stays, such a solid player, feel so confident with him in the back line. He’s only gonna get better as well. 💛💙

If he gets stronger aerially he’d already be one of the top centre halves in Europe

Exactly my point why we must buy him now. When he fills out a bit and gets stronger he could be worth £80m.

i would love it if he stayed with us, and the possibilities are there. However, if he does go and join a team like Liverpool, then i'll be cheering him the whole way – same with Delph, Lewis C and James M – celebrate their successes as #ALAW

Already at a Big Club thanks.

They can all P**s off. Ben White’s destiny is with the Whites. I mean, look at his surname, man.
