Wayne Rooney rages at what Birmingham City fans chanted at Leeds United at Elland Road

Wayne Rooney has slammed the Birmingham City fans for what they did during the game against Leeds United on Monday (1 January).

Speaking in his post-match press conference (via Beren Cross), the Blues boss said the only chant he “did not appreciate” from the visitors’ fans was about the disgraced media personality Jimmy Saville.

He added that he didn’t feel the chant was “acceptable” as the Midlands club fell to a 3-0 defeat against the Whites at Elland Road.

Unpopular

There was quite a lot sung about Rooney during the game following his awful record with Birmingham and the fact he is a club legend at Leeds’ rivals Manchester United.

But he’s probably going to be even more unpopular with the Blues’ supporters after calling them out for their chants about Saville during the game.

The former media personality, who just happens to be from Leeds, doesn’t deserve to have his name mentioned anywhere due to the accusations aimed at him following his death.

On the pitch, though, it was an excellent afternoon for the Whites, with Patrick Bamford’s first goal of the campaign being complemented by strikes from Dan James and Crysencio Summerville.

Daniel Farke will be pleased to get back to winning ways after it has been a difficult festive period for his side, but they can now start to look forward again following their comprehensive victory.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are targeting a Premier League ace as they prepare for a transfer blitz in January.
