Wayne Rooney makes new Leeds United admission after what happened v Plymouth
Plymouth boss Wayne Rooney has reflected on what was a “difficult” clash against Leeds United ahead of the November international break.
The Whites’ victory against Plymouth was one of the most comfortable of the season for Daniel Farke’s side so far and Rooney acknowledged that after the game.
Three goals in eight minutes secured victory at Elland Road in a 3-0 win back on November 2, in what Rooney admitted was a tough encounter for his side.
In quotes reported by the Plymouth Herald (12 November), he said: “Of course, Leeds was a very difficult game for us but getting a win against Portsmouth and then a point away from home against a good team was really important for us to go into the international break with a little bit of momentum.
“Hopefully the poor games we had before that we can put behind us because I think before that we were really good. So we need to try to build some momentum and try to pick up more points.”
Leeds United can benefit from the international break
The past few weeks have been successful for Leeds who have managed to reduce the deficit from the top of the table to just two points, following Sunderland’s three-game winless run.
Perhaps the Whites will look back at their goalless draw against Bristol City as a missed opportunity although the same could be said about several teams at the top.
The break provides an opportunity for players to recharge and prepare to go again with what is going to be a hectic Christmas schedule.

Leeds have nine games to play until the end of the year and ensuring players are at peak fitness levels is going to be crucial for their hopes of maintaining their position near the top of the table.
On paper, there are very few games that Leeds will be expected to drop points in with clashes against Derby, Oxford and Stoke all on the horizon.
Farke will be hoping that those on international duty can come back unscathed.
In other Leeds United news, Darren Bent believes a “huge” club is set to miss out on promotion to the Premier League.
