Leeds United could prepare a club record bid to blow Crystal Palace out of the water in the race to sign Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr.
According to the Evening Standard, the Hornets are unwilling to sell the 24-year-old for under £30million which would mean that Leeds will have to break their transfer record to sign him.
While it’s understood that they’re awaiting an offer from Palace, Leeds could come in with an eleventh hour bid to secure his services.
Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna reported on August 16 that the Whites were in advanced talks to sign the Senegal international.
Surely, they would not want one of their primary targets to leave for a club that’s expected to battle for table positions with them.
While Sarr is a wide attacker, he has played centrally on numerous occasions, including a game this season in which he scored a goal as well.
It’s clear that the Senegalese attacker likes being in and around the box and should Jesse Marsch play him as a lone number nine, it would certainly work to his strengths.
The fact that he’s played in other positions means that he would make this Whites attack more fluid with Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson and Rodrigo interchanging positions constantly.
Sarr is also Premier League proven and that will certainly put him high up the priority list at Elland Road as the club seem to be running out of time to sign a new front man.
