‘Waste of time’ – Some Leeds fans fume over loanee situation after what happened on Saturday

Leeds United fans are not happy after seeing Robbie Gotts failing to appear for Lincoln City again on Saturday when he was an unused substitute against Doncaster.

Gotts, 20, watched on from the sidelines as the Imps lost 1-0 away at the Keepmoat Stadium but Leeds fans feel as though he should be playing more or at least be recalled to Elland Road.

The young midfielder has had a frustrating time over the last year.

Although he’s undoubtedly learned a lot from the management of Marcelo Bielsa, he spent so much of last season watching matches from the bench.

Gotts made 24 of Bielsa’s matchday squads in all competitions last season but managed to play just twice, with one outing against Arsenal in the FA Cup and a six-minute cameo off the bench against Cardiff in June.

That now seems to be what is happening at Lincoln with Gotts not in Michael Appleton’s immediate first-team plans.

And fans are less than pleased with the arrangement on Twitter.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

While it’s understandable that this is a frustrating situation, this next Leeds fan has perhaps put it best:

Gotts can’t just rock up to an in-form club and expect to get minutes.

It’s likely the game-time will come for Gotts once they suffer a drop in form.

Lincoln’s defeat against Doncaster on Saturday suggests that changes could happen soon at Sincil Bank.

Whether Gotts gets his break, we will have to wait and see.
