Wales media in total agreement after what Leeds star Dan James did in draw

Leeds United had a trio of players in action for Wales on Tuesday (25 March) as Dan James looked to dazzle out wide once again.

Craig Bellamy’s side rescued a point in their World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign in a dramatic finish against North Macedonia.

Bojan Miovski thought he had won the game for his team when he broke the deadlock in the 91st minute, but Wales’ team spirit was on full display as David Brooks equalised just five minutes later to finish 1-1.

The point left Wales level with North Macedonia in Group J, as both teams have four points after the first two qualification games.

James unable to bring his best form to international duty

James has been a star for the Whites this season out wide, being a continuous threat in the final third as his pace has often proved too much for the Championship full-backs.

However, he couldn’t bring his usual scintillating form to international duty on Tuesday, as Bellamy subbed him off in the 64th minute of the game.

In their player ratings, Y Clwb Pel-Droed gave the winger a 6/10 for his performance, saying he was “not quite as effective as Saturday night, despite trying his best to make things happen,” while adding that he couldn’t get the luck he needed at crucial times.

Wales Online felt that the Leeds winger provided an equally average performance with another 6/10 rating as they said he, “worked hard all night, but just couldn’t find the ball needed to make something happen.”

Leeds must handle the pressure of the run-in

James will need to rediscover his end product when club football returns as Leeds attempt to deal with the mounting pressure that Sheffield United and Burnley are putting on them in the race for promotion.

The Yorkshire giants might sit top of the Championship at the moment, but with Sheffield United only behind them on goal difference and Burnley just two points away, there is no margin for error.

Leeds return to action on Saturday (29 March) when they host Swansea City before an away trip to play Luton Town, where consistency will be needed after they won just one of their previous four matches.
