View: Nicolas Tagliafico available for £10m - Orta must sign him this summer

Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico will be available for a bargain price of £10million this summer and Leeds United must move heaven and earth to sign him.

Mike Verweij, who is De Telegraaf’s football correspondent, discussed the Argentine’s future on the Kick-off met Valentijn Driessen podcast.

There, Verweij revealed that Ajax are keen to cash in on Tagliafico this summer amid interest from overseas and will be looking to offload for a bargain price of £10million.

The Daily Mail first linked the Whites with the left-back in April, suggesting a fee of £13million would be enough to complete the switch.

However, per Verweij, his price has dropped even below that and for £10million, he represents extremely good value in today’s inflated transfer market.

Sign him up, Orta

Regardless of Gjanni Alioski’s Leeds United future, we need to sign a quality full-back this summer.

The North Macedonian has been inconsistent in that position for us, and we’ve looked better when Stuart Dallas has played there even though he prefers being deployed in midfield.

Tagliafico is an ideal attacking full-back with an engine on him – one who’ll fit into Marcelo Bielsa’s style of play seamlessly.

The Argentine connection could also play a huge factor in getting him to Elland Road should Bielsa step up his interest in the player.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed yet another good season for the Whites.

Having averaged 5.43 progressive passes this past season, he finds himself in the top 10 percent of full-backs in Europe’s top five leagues, per StatsBomb data.

In comparison, Leeds’ full-backs he’s well – with Luke Ayling (5.38), Alioski (4.1), and Dallas (4.8) not boasting numbers as high as the Argentine’s.

He’s also impressed defensively, making 2.76 tackles and winning 2.1 aerial duels per game.

Signing Taglifico would give Bielsa a player who’s going to contribute on both ends of the pitch.

He’s been described as ‘world-class’ by Total Football Analysis who have presented a detailed breakdown of the player’s strengths and weaknesses.

At £10 million, he’s not going to dig that deep into the club’s coffers and Victor Orta must get this deal done before one of Europe’s top sides snap him up.
