View: Leeds United target Nathan Collins could aid the Whites’ defensive issues
Leeds United are eyeing a move for Burnley defender Nathan Collins after the Clarets’ relegation, as reported by Football Insider on Friday [27 May].
The 21-year-old defender would be an excellent addition to Leeds United’s very leaky defence and should be a priority for Jesse Marsch to pursue.
Leeds conceded 79 goals in the Premier League last season, with only bottom placed Norwich amassing more.

Despite their relegation, Collins had an impressive season and at 21 he would be an excellent long-term option for Marsch to pursue.
As per Wyscout, Collins ranks inside the top 20 defenders for interceptions per 90 in the Premier League with 6.18.
This stat displays his aggressive attitude to defending, with the Republic of Ireland international looking to win the ball back off his opponents, as opposed to dropping off and being conservative.
If Marsch wishes to implement a high-pressing style of football, having defenders that are bold in their decision making is a requisition.
Furthermore, another stat that jumps out is the amount of shots Collins has blocked this season.
The defender has blocked 20 shots and sits in the top ten for blocked shots per 90, with none of Leeds current defenders ahead of him.

This indicates that Collins doesnt mind putting his body on the line which is something Leeds United have needed at times this season.
Finally, the Burnley man is only 21 and will have plenty of time to develop further if he does move on from the Clarets.
However, with his contract running until the summer of 2025, the defender won’t be cheap, nevertheless it’s a progressive move that Leeds should be looking into.
In other Leeds United news, this player is considering his options at Elland Road despite only signing last year.
