View: Leeds United get massive Anfield boost with injured Liverpool duo

Leeds United are to receive a massive boost for the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool this evening (February 23).

Crucial forwards Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota have been ruled out of Premier League clash [ECHO] which will breed confidence into Marcelo Bielsa’s team.

The Argentine will himself be without defender Robin Koch following his head injury with key midfielder Kalvin Phillips also not fit enough to return.

The Whites will look for a positive result against the Reds as they look to bounce back from their 4-2 defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Manchester United last time out, leaving them just five points from relegation.

Mountain to climb

Despite two of Liverpool’s best attackers missing this is still going to be an unbelievably tough game.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have set pace over the past few seasons and unfortunately, they have strengthened their squad at the least opportune time.

If they were without two of their fronts three last season, the Reds would have really struggle but now they can simply bring in Luis Diaz to partner Mane and Salah.

Leeds just have to focus on themselves though, they were way too easy to break down against a very average Manchester United team so can you imagine the damage Liverpool could do with the form they are in?

Hopefully, however unlikely, Bielsa learns from that game to make the team more robust against Liverpool.

The opposition no longer matters. Leeds have to pick up as many points as possible from now until the end of the season in order to dodge the ever-present threat of relegation.
