View: Joe Rodon on loan would be perfect for Leeds United
Leeds United are keeping close tabs on Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon, according to a recent report from The Telegraph.
Rodon would be a fantastic signing for the Whites, but they could face strong competition from other Premier League clubs like Newcastle United and Watford.
The Wales international has struggled for regular games, and Spurs are ready to send him on loan in January, preferably to a Premier League club.
The Whites must not miss out on this opportunity.
The 24-year-old did well last season after joining the club from Swansea City. Under Jose Mourinho, he impressed whenever he got opportunities.
He was a leader on and off the pitch when he was at Swansea. He used to play left centre-back and he has got some great attributes that Bielsa will like.
Rodon has this natural tendency to get forward in central areas. He is “excellent” in the air and has got a decent ball retention ability.
His playing style is similar to Nathan Ake, although the Dutchman is a more proven defender than him. Bielsa worked wonders with Ben White at Leeds. He can do it again with Rodon.
Leeds initially didn’t have plans to sign a defender. They have Liam Cooper, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, and Pascal Struijk as four centre-backs, while Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips can fill the role as well.
However, such is their luck with injuries, the Argentine is left with a bare bone squad, and signing a defender may become a priority.
Rodon on loan suits all parties involved.
In other Leeds United news, the club have made an enquiry to sign a ‘Magnificent’ South American midfielder in January
