Video shows how Marcelo Bielsa reacted to Joe Gelhardt magic for Leeds v Wolves
Leeds United fans had a sense of “told you so” about them this week as Joe Gelhardt was the saviour over the weekend.
After weeks and months to see the attacking sensation in the Premier League, he has come off the bench against Southampton and Wolves.
Gelhardt was the sole reason behind collecting a point on Saturday, as he worked his magic before being fouled for that last-gasp penalty in the 1-1 draw.
Leeds have released a special “dug-out” camera video on their official YouTube channel in the past 24 hours, and it makes for a special watch.
It shows Marcelo Bielsa and the likes of Kalvin Phillips watching closely as Gelhardt starts his run and ends in them both going mental with their celebrations.
There was a real sense of relief in Bielsa, who threw his arms around in a manner that we rarely see on the touchline.
Wow, watching this again it is easy to get carried away.
Martin Keown even insisted that Gelhardt had a bit of Lionel Messi inside him after that stunning run led to the equaliser – maybe a slight overreaction at this stage.
The Whites now travel to London this evening to take on Arsenal in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup, and you have to think this could be his first start.
Gelhardt will be chomping at the bit to get more first-team action, and this could be the perfect opportunity for him.
Patrick Bamford is still out injured, and Rodrigo played 97 minutes at full-intensity against Wolves on Saturday so likely needs a rest.
That opens the door for Gelhardt and Tyler Roberts, who both showed glimpses of promise after coming off the bench.
The Welshman is likely to play behind the attacking sensation if both start, and Bielsa will be thinking long and hard about his team – it’s not long until we find out.
