Victor Orta would take Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha at Leeds United in a heartbeat in January transfer window
Victor Orta would reportedly take Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha “in a heartbeat” at Leeds United as they eye reinforcements.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post [13 December], the Brazil international can be billed as a target ahead of the January transfer and the payment terms are understood to be right.
Leeds will continue to monitor any developments around the 23-year-old while also focusing on other targets.
There’s no denying that Cunha is an extremely talented player and will bring something different to this Leeds attack desperately looking for an X-Factor.
However, his entire game is based on his lightning-quick movement along with being a very effective presser and someone who gets his teammates into the game.
But what he does not do is stay within the width of the 18-yard penalty area and be a menace for centre-backs and goalkeepers.
His all-round player is exceptional but Leeds do need someone who can get them goals and preferably someone with the physicality to outmuscle some of the league’s top defenders.
In many ways, Cunha is like Gabriel Jesus and while he has transformed the way Arsenal play, they do have other reliable finishers.
If Leeds end up signing the Brazilian, they will have to rely on the likes of Luis Sinisterra, Jack Harrison, Crysencio Summerville and maybe even Brenden Aaronson to pop up with the goals as well and while that could give rise to a very mobile front four it’ll also be without a top goal scorer.
