Victor Orta was furious in build-up to Leeds conceding first goal v Man Utd

Leeds United started the new Premier League season with a 5-1 hiding at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The visitors went 1-0 down at half-time, and director of football Victor Orta was not pleased about something in the build-up to the goal.

According to BBC Sport journalist Simon Stone, the Leeds chief did not react well to the Red Devils opener.

Stone posted on his personal Twitter account during the game: “Just point out Leeds director of football Victor Orta was furious about something in the directors’ box just before the goal.

“When that went in, he punched his seat in frustration.”

Tough start

Paul Pogba split our defence open with a classy pass that found Bruno Fernandes with a lot of space ahead of him, and the Portuguese playmaker was not going to miss such a fine chance.

We did well to draw level just minutes after the break, but conceding four more goals afterwards did not look good, and we can only wonder how Orta would have felt at full-time.

Leeds fans will definitely not be pleased with that result, and we really have not learned much from our last visit that ended in a 6-2 loss.

Leeds United

Conceding loads of goals was our Achilles heel last season, and shipping five on the opening day of the new campaign means we have not really improved.

Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa is definitely not going to change his approach, and we now quickly have to put this embarrassing defeat behind us and concentrate on the next game against Everton at Elland Road.

Leeds really could do with another defensive midfielder right now, and Man Utd have exposed our flaws at in department again.
