Victor Orta set to hijack Leeds United transfer for Ilias Akhomach as he edges towards Sevilla move
Victor Orta could be set to join Seville as sporting director and wants to hijack Leeds United’s transfer move for Ilias Akhomach, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Whites were said to be signing the Barcelona youth player on a free transfer this summer, with all contract details agreed and a deal just needing pen to paper.
But with Orta being sacked by Andrea Radrizzani, he is now set to return to Spain and wants to take Akhomach with him away from Elland Road.

Sevilla were already interested in the player but he opted for Leeds because of Orta, and with Orta now leaving the deal has collapsed.
With Sevilla set to re-enter the race, the potential arrival of Orta could see them become frontrunners for his signature ahead of Leeds.
No loss
If Leeds fans had to choose between signing Ilias and keeping Orta, or having both not at Elland Road next season then the choice would have been really easy.
Orta should have left the club months ago and the Akhomach deal probably wouldn’t have even been on the cards had the board done their jobs properly.

While he is undoubtedly an excellent talent, he is hardly what we need at the club right now.
Leeds already have a lot of top talents in the attacking departments on the pitch and the likes of Wilfried Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph are arguably better if not as good as him.
While it’s always nice to see a fresh face at the club, we have some much bigger priorities at Elland Road than making signings right now.
Whether we miss out on the deal or not we’ll get over it and bounce back, and knowing Leeds we’ll find a better player to bring in anyway.
