Paul Robinson believes Victor Orta lets his passion overspill at times after an image emerged of the Leeds United chief during the recent defeat to Everton.

The sporting director came under the spotlight after an image emerged (Conor McGilligan, Twitter, 19 February) of the Spaniard pointing to his ear and appearing to mock the travelling fans.

However, Robinson has claimed Orta has the best interests of the club at heart despite his recent antics.

“I think videos are interpreted in certain ways. I haven’t seen the image so I can’t comment on it, but he’s a very passionate man and it overspills at times,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“I think he’s got his heart in the right place and he’s got the club’s best interests in his mind. I just think he gets frustrated at situations and he gets overly pleased with certain scenarios.

“You get managers who don’t get too high when they win and too low when they lose and Victor is the complete opposite of that and you see that at times.

“I think under the Jesse Marsch reign he wasn’t involved in as many signings as he was previously or has as much say as before. So you could say his situation has changed in the last six to eight months.

“He brought Marcelo Bielsa to the club and the majority of his signings have worked. It’s the passion his personality which overspills.”

This isn’t the first time Orta has come under the spotlight in the 2022/23 campaign after he was filmed appearing to mock the Elland Road faithful after Leeds’ dramatic 4-3 win over Bournemouth.
