Victor Orta could have three midfield targets for Leeds - Phil Hay

Leeds United are still on the hunt for a major signing of a new midfielder this summer, with only two weeks remaining in the window.

Victor Orta missed out on Conor Gallagher and currently has Huddersfield’s Lewis O’Brien in his crosshairs.

Phil Hay has shared an update, insisting that the Spaniard usually has three names on his shortlist per position.

Hay was questioned on Twitter as to why and how the Whites missed out on Gallagher, and what the next steps would be.

Writing on his personal account on Wednesday, the reliable journalist shared that Orta consistently has three targets per position.

“Orta usually lists three,” he said.

“That’s what he tells us. Gallagher was top.”

Number Two.

So, we’ve already seen one slip out of our grasp and are far down the line over number two on the list.

The Guardian reported on Tuesday that the Whites were closing in on a £7million deal plus add-ons, although that has been heavily questioned.

If that one doesn’t progress quickly enough this week, we could see Orta and his team move onto an unnamed target who would class as number three.

We hope to see something gather pace soon, as we desperately need another midfielder at Elland Road in the near future.

Orta has done nothing to make us lose trust in his business so far during this past three years, but he really has to pull something out of the bag this month.

We can’t go through this window without making another signing.
