Victor Orta blown away by Leeds sensation Archie Gray

Leeds United fans will recognise the name Archie Gray, and it is one they will be reminded of for many years to come at Elland Road.

Great nephew of Whites legend Eddie Gray, the 15-year-old is fighting his way through the academy at Thorp Arch and has already made history this season.

After becoming the youngest ever player to assist a goal in the EFL Trophy, Victor Orta has been stunned by his talent – even comparing him to Sergio Aguero.

Speaking to the Spanish media, translated by All Stats Aren’t We today, Orta singled out the Whites sensation.

“I want to be the first person on La Media Inglesa since in five years time you’ll be talking about this guy non-stop,” he said.

“I want to be the first and because I already had the answer prepared yesterday, I want to say the name of Archie Gray, our youth team player.

“He’s one of those players you see every, I don’t know. I remember Kun Agüero and saying “what is this?” It’s something that happens once in a long time, so I wanted to mention Archie Gray.”

This is the ultimate praise and more proof that Leeds are dealing with one of the best academies in the entire country once again.

Gray is just one name in a long list of talents to look out for at Elland Road, but will have even more pressure given his family history.

Making history in the EFL Trophy proves that he has the skill, flair and determination to make it in the senior game, but he has to do that consistently when given the chance.

Mark Jackson handed the 15-year-old another chance with the under-23s over the weekend in the 2-1 defeat against Sunderland, with huge hopes clearly for his progression.

Given Orta’s glowing recommendation, Gray is clearly one to watch and we can’t already wait to see his progression – fingers crossed he lives up to the hype.
