Victor Orta could seal two major new Leeds United transfers before Australia tour begins

Victor Orta is in the process of lining up three major new transfers for Leeds United at the start of July, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist has reported that the Whites director could even have “one or two” of them completed in time for them to join the Australia pre-season tour, with flights out on Sunday 10th.

Orta will not be on that tour though, instead staying at Elland Road with Angus Kinnear in order to continue any critical transfer business that needs to be done.

Writing in his latest column in the print edition of the Yorkshire Evening Post [01 July, pg. 54], Smyth shared the potential plans coming from Elland Road.

“But there could yet be a new face or two settling down in the business-class seats for the long haul, particularly if things with Raphinha advance to such a stage over the next few days that Leeds know there’s another big chunk of money coming in,” he wrote.

“Victor Orta is in the process of lining things up when it comes to the three key positions the Whites want to strengthen and so it is not impossible that he could get one or two of his men in before the boarding gate closes, or even have them running through the airport last minute.”

Eight Days.

So, given the exits of Phillips and Raphinha are swift and the money comes flying in, all eyes will then be on those potential incomings.

With one or two possible before Australia, Orta must already have put in that groundwork needed to kickstart negotiations, with more airport pictures likely coming.

Of course, the first two names that spring to mind are RB Leipzig man Tyler Adams and Club Brugge star Charles De Ketelaere and while the first is very possible, we expect the latter to be much more complicated and take longer than just eight days.

We are really entering the business end of the window now ahead of the Premier League, and although Andrea Radrizzani will likely be in Australia, he will no doubt be in constant contact with Orta and Kinnear.

It’s for Leeds to pull the trigger, we need three new players desperately, but we also need them ready in our system for that first game of the season against Wolves.

The sooner these deals can happen, the better.
