Victor Orta & sidelined Leeds duo fuming with one decision in Blackburn win – Journalist
There were plenty of decisions for outsiders to sink their teeth into as Leeds United beat Blackburn 3-1 at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Goals from Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich saw the Whites extend their gap at the top of the Championship to four points again.
Adam Armstrong grabbed Blackburn’s response, but after the first 20 minutes, Leeds had total control in Lancashire.
Leeds left Ewood Park with a couple of bookings – Klich and Luke Ayling cautioned for fouls stopping the home side from countering.
The referee was given a major decision to make in the second half as Christian Walton brought down Bamford when he was running through on goal.
The keeper was booked in the end, as Bamford didn’t look like reaching the ball – either way, it should have been a red card.
Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross delivered an insight into the reactions on his personal Twitter account, with Victor Orta, Stuart Dallas and Helder Costa all left furious.
If Leeds had been chasing the game from behind or going for the win, the questions after the clash could have been very different.
The Whites will take the three points and leave Lancashire delighted, and that decision will be out of their minds come tomorrow morning.
When you look back at the red card that Gaetano Berardi picked up at Millwall earlier in the season, this decision is laughable.
Three points are what are important at this stage of the season though, and Orta will be all smiles on his way back to West Yorkshire.
