David Prutton has been very impressed with the transfer activity of Leeds United in the window after promotion to the Premier League.
The Sky Sports pundit spoke out on Saturday after the Whites confirmed the signing of Diego Llorente from Real Sociedad.
Llorente followed Robin Koch and Rodrigo through the door at Elland Road, as Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t look to change much.
Prutton claimed this is exactly what fans at Elland Road wanted to see, and praised the “brilliant” addition of the Spanish international.
“Spanish international defender Diego Llorente became the club’s latest signing by joining from Real Sociedad this week and you would think that is what Leeds’ fans would have hoped for regarding transfer activity,” he wrote in his YEP column.
“It feeds into that very excitable side of being a football fan.
“He has played over 100 games in La Liga and is a Spanish international and you would definitely take a bit of that at Elland Road when you have had players of varying quality over the course of a very long period of being outside the top-flight.
“After that, it’s a case of brilliant, great CV, now let’s show us what you can do for Leeds which is how open-minded the club’s fans are.”
Llorente’s addition has given Leeds exactly what they needed – more competition and depth in their defence.
After conceding seven goals in their opening two fixtures in the Premier League, Bielsa will have started to become somewhat concerned.
That, joined by the arrival of the 27-year-old, won’t see a change in system though, with Llorente told to fight for his spot in this Whites side.
The Spanish international shared he is ready and available for the game at Sheffield United, although we expect a place on the bench is what will be waiting for him.
