Valentin Castellanos four-goal feat v Real Madrid proves he’s ready for Leeds United transfer

Girona striker Valentin Castellanos, who has been on the radar of Leeds United for a while recently made headlines by scoring four against Real Madrid.

On loan at the La Liga outfit from MLS side New York City FC, the Argentine forward made Europe take note by scoring four in one game as his side won 4-2 on Tuesday, 25 April.

Doing it against any side is impressive in itself, but to humble the mighty Los Blancos, the Champions League holders, is something else and one he’s going to remember his entire career.

Back in February 2022, La Pagina Millionaria reported that Leeds had already made contact with the 24-year-old’s agents over a transfer last summer.

It’s understood that they were even willing to shell out a fee in the region of £10million to bring him to Elland Road but that move did not happen.

Leeds need reliable goal scorers and one of the reasons they’re in this mess is because they do not have a proper talisman leading the line.

Rodrigo is the top goal scorer but his age and fitness record mean that no manager can rely on him being the first-choice option.

Patrick Bamford is also seldom fit and whenever he is, he misses howlers and racking up a high xG is not going to keep Leeds in the Premier League.

Castellanos is a guaranteed goal scorer and has a good fitness record as well so it’s worth it for Leeds to check in on him in the summer.

In other Leeds United, a Whites player was reduced to tears after what happened this week while he’s also on the cusp of sealing a permanent Elland Road exit.
