Valencia may be forced to sell Jesus Vazquez to Leeds United in January

Valencia may be forced to sell Jesus Vazquez in January with Leeds United now said to be sniffing around, according to Spanish news outlet Superdeporte.

The report that was published on 10 October 2022 suggests that there is a clause in Vazquez’s contract that will force Valencia to sell him in January if sporting conditions are not met.

Vazquez has lost “prominence” in the Valencia setup with head coach Gennaro Gattuso preferring Jose Luis Gaya and Toni Lato as his first-choice left-backs.

“The 19-year-old has lost prominence in the team in a dangerous way,” as quoted by Superdeporte.

“SUPER has learned, Jesús has a clause in his contract that forces Valencia to unilaterally transfer him in January if some sports conditions are not met.”

This will be music to the ears of Whites who have been crying out for the club to sign a new left-back, with the agent of Vazquez now in England with Leeds interested [Plaza Derportiva].

Absolutely.

Leeds United’s left-back position has been a problem for countless years now and the club have the perfect chance at rectifying it in Vazquez.

Junior Firpo has been a catastrophically bad signing, to say the least, and despite Pascal Struijk filling in well in the position, he’s needed in his natural centre-back position.

Vazquez has now featured for Valencia four times this campaign, after making 14 appearances for them last term.

His lack of game time indicates that he may want to look for first-team football elsewhere and Leeds must capitalise on his contract clause.

The youngster is a fantastic talent and has featured for Spain at multiple youth-level stages, he’s the type of thriving young gun any top club would want in their setup.

It’s bizzare that he doesn’t get the nod to start for Valencia, but this seems to be more of a conflict with the manager’s playing style rather than the defender himself.

You know what to do Victor Orta, this chance is too good of an opportunity to miss.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has revealed the whispers he’s heard at Elland Road about when the 49ers will complete their takeover.
