Valencia legend claims Leeds were not the 'best choice of club' for Rodrigo
Valencia legend Javier Subirats has claimed that Leeds United would not have been the first choice of Rodrigo this summer when leaving the Spanish side.
The Whites broke their transfer record by bringing Rodrigo to Elland Road, and the Spanish international scored his first goal recently against Manchester City.

Subirats, who made over 100 appearances in La Liga, claimed that Rodrigo would have preferred to have moved to one of the bigger clubs in Spain, such as Barcelona.
“Finally, Rodrigo has gone to Leeds but not for the price that Valencia had been hoping for,” he told Tribal Football.
“But these are difficult times now, economically speaking, for the club. I don’t believe that Leeds is really the best choice of club that perhaps Rodrigo would have liked to have joined.

“Regarding Rodrigo, in theory, I think he would have liked to have gone to one of the bigger clubs in Spain, which was on the cards before.”
Barcelona were locked in talks with Valencia over the transfer of Rodrigo back in January, with the Catalan side wanting a loan with an option-to-buy.
The Evening Standard reported that Rodrigo’s former side were holding out for £54.3million only six months before he completed his move to Elland Road for half the price.
Rodrigo was eager to make that switch, but after it collapsed, he got his head down and months later completed his move to Leeds.
The 29-year-old has been superb, and he has spoken out about his eagerness to take the Whites forward after their promotion to the Premier League.
