Update emerges on Leeds United quest to hire Feyenoord manager Arne Slot

Leeds United are reportedly unlikely to hire Feyenoord manager Arne Slot despite being linked with a move for the Dutchman.

According to Voetbal International, Victor Orta had a shortlist ready after the club decided to sack Jesse Marsch.

While Slot’s name is understood to be on it, the Feyenoord boss is unlikely to make the switch to Elland Road.

Via Twitter, VI wrote, “Victor Orta is known as one of the better TDs in the Premier League, so when he sacked Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch, he already had a list ready. In it was the name of Arne Slot. Spoiler: He probably won’t be joining.”

All eggs in the Iraola basket?

Slot’s side are leading the Eredivisie and he perhaps feels that they’ve got a chance to win a rare league title and does not want to jeopardise it for a relegation battle.

While nothing to that extent has been mentioned, it could be a valid reason for him to not pay attention to any interest shown in him.

On the other hand, Andoni Iraola has got Rayo Vallecano punching above their weight and due to their limited budget, it may not be possible to take them any further.

This means that they could very well look to approach Rayo, pay the compensation for him and get him out of the club if he’s willing to leave.

They sit in fifth place in La Liga which is something they would never have envisaged at the start of the season, given that they’re among the lowest spenders.

With Carlos Corberan also no longer in the race, it seems like Iraola is now the favourite although there are links to Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as well.
