United States manager Gregg Berhalter lauds Leeds United Tyler Adams after what happened this week

Gregg Berhalter has lauded Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams for how he handled the question by the Iranian journalist.

The United States head coach was also a big fan of the leadership he’s shown and praised the 23-year-old’s impact on the side.

The Americans made it through to the Round of 16 and they will now face the Netherlands and Adams is undoubtedly going to play a pivotal role.

Berhalter said, via the Guardian, “His leadership has been vital to us from day one. In this World Cup, he’s extremely focused and his play has been outstanding over the course of these three games. He’s been performing lights out.”

Class on and off the pitch

This World Cup has clearly shown us why Adams is rated so highly for his country so much so that he’s been made captain at 23.

Everyone that’s watched Leeds knows how good a player he is, but few thought that someone relatively inexperienced will be so profound and articulate.

He’s setting the example for his teammates at the national level but also at the club level and Jesse Marsch will have been left impressed with it.

In a year or two, Liam Cooper will be eased out of the team and we do not see any other natural captain than Adams.

He seems to be loving his football at Elland Road and we believe that any talk about a Champions League move is premature at this moment.

Adams knows just how loved he is at the club and if Marsch remains the manager for a while, he’s certainly going to make the American midfielder front and centre of his rebuild.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now scouting an attacker at the World Cup and a January move appears to be on the cards for them.
