‘Unbelievable’ – Leeds star shares what friend told him when he agreed switch to Elland Rd
Matuesz Klich clearly feels he made the right decision to join Leeds United back in 2017 when he left FC Twente to head to Elland Road.
Klich, 29, struggled in his debut season at Leeds as he failed to get a look in under Thomas Christiansen and was eventually loaned out to Utrecht.
After doing well on loan in the Eredivisie and Marcelo Bielsa’s appointment in charge at Elland Road, Klich became a key player for the Whites and has started every single Championship fixture with Bielsa at the helm.
Klich has now revealed what he was told by a friend before he joined Leeds in 2017 and has reserved some special praise for the Yorkshire club’s supporters.
He told Leeds’ official website: “It’s a massive club, the fans are unbelievable, especially when they travel with us in big numbers.
“I had a friend who was playing in England at the time, and when he knew I was coming here, he told me that I was a lucky guy because Leeds is a sleeping giant.
“It’s a great feeling to play for the club, I would love to get into the Premier League with Leeds, that’s why I signed a new contract and I’m happy here.”
We would all love Klich to help us get to the Premier League too.
Although he had such a tough start to life in English football, Klich is arguably one of the most important players in the Leeds squad.
No one runs as much as the multi-talented Poland international, who can do just about everything in the midfield from tracking back and winning tackles to driving forward and scoring goals.
In other Leeds United news, it has been explained why Kiko Casilla hasn’t apologised to Jonathan Leko.
