‘Unbelievable’ – Leeds players blown away by team-mate display v Barnsley, Eddie Nketiah reacts

Leeds United players have been heaping praise on Ben White after he played a key role in the 1-0 win against Barnsley on Thursday.

It was by no means a convincing performance against the Tykes with Marcelo Bielsa admitting after the game that Gerhard Struber’s side did not deserve to lose.

Michael Sollbauer’s own goal was enough to separate the two sides but White stood firm in the defence to ensure Barnsley wouldn’t be able to get back in to the game.

After the win, White took to his personal Instagram account to upload images of himself playing, which led to a number of replies from his Leeds team-mates.

Kalvin Phillips, who missed the match, was quick to hail the on-loan Brighton defender while Pascal Struijk called him an “unbelievable player”.

Leif Davis, Barry Douglas and former loan star Eddie Nketiah also responded to White’s post, with Nketiah send him a goat emoji.

White has been fantastic for Leeds this season and has shown that he is more than good enough to play in the Premier League next term, whether that’s with Leeds, Brighton or someone else.

The 22-year-old had to play as a holding midfielder against Barnsley on Thursday night due to Phillips’ injury and it’s likely he will play there in the last two games against Derby and Charlton too.

Stats by WyScout show that 80 per cent of White’s passes were accurate while the loanee also won 76 per cent of all duels, won three of his five aerial duels, made two interceptions and a huge 17 recoveries – his season average if 12.3 per 90 minutes.

White is a brilliant player and we really do hope that Leeds can cling onto him past the end of this season.

It is bound to be hard but we’d be disappointed if the club didn’t at least try.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this attacker even though he was sent off last weekend.
