Tyrone Mings posts two-word message after embarrassing Leeds star Kalvin Phillips
Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips looks set to return to action on Sunday evening as England take on Romania.
Gareth Southgate was joined by the Yorkshire Pirlo in his pre-match press conference yesterday, usually a big indicator he will start at the Riverside.
After recovering from his shoulder injury in record time, Phillips looks set to feature at the EUROs and has been training at full force this week.
That sometimes doesn’t end well.
While doing the popular rondo training drill, Phillips was spotted getting nutmegged by Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings.
One of our nearest rivals took to his personal Instagram account to apologise for the incident, although he certainly looked to embarrass him, who wouldn’t?
“Sorry, bro,” he wrote.
If this was in a Premier League game, we have no doubt that Mings would have been sent flying into the stand at Elland Road or Villa Park.
Given the strong bond in the England camp though, we can’t expect that to happen.
There is a real sense of unity among the Three Lions with the major tournament coming up next season, and that brings an expectation that something special could happen.
Phillips appears to be in the middle of that, something that we never would have expected two years ago, but that is a credit to him and Marcelo Bielsa.
Having one of our own shine on the international stage for England after nearly two decades with nothing to show for makes everyone around Elland Road smile.
Imagine how we all would feel if he lined up for that first game against Croatia, it’s only one week away; bring it on.
