Tyler Roberts in talks to quit Leeds United permanently as bonuses to be tied into Birmingham City deal

Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts is in talks with Birmingham City over a £750,000 transfer to the club, according to The Mail on Sunday.

The publication added that the fee for the 24-year-old is expected to rise with bonuses tied into the deal.

Roberts spent last season on loan at Championship club Queens Park Rangers, but was limited to just 18 league appearances due to injury.

In the works

Roberts has been linked with an exit from Elland Road for some time now, and it seems that this summer will be the time when the player finally does leave the club in search of a new challenge elsewhere.

Leeds are, of course, now also in the Championship alongside both Birmingham and QPR following their relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the season.

But the Whites need to move some players on in order to get the squad they feel is capable of challenging for immediate promotion back to the top flight, and Roberts looks set to be among those leaving.

It isn’t exactly a huge fee, but it looks set to increase, and it does at least mean that Leeds can get Roberts off their wage bill.

Along with freeing up finances, his exit would also free up space for a new face in the squad this summer.

In other Leeds United news, Tottenham are in talks to sign one Whites player that Victor Orta admitted is too good for the Championship.
