Tyler Adams to be forced to watch Leeds United in stands at Elland Road ‘for the time being’ – Phil Hay
Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams will now be forced to watch his teammates from the stands at Elland Road in their attempts to avoid relegation, according to Phil Hay.
Hay reported [28 March] that Adams has been “forced to undergo surgery” on his hamstring injury and is now set for an “extended” Leeds United after picking up a thigh injury before the international break.
Also, injury expert Ben Dinnery confirmed the injury blow for Leeds, posting on Twitter on Tuesday (28 March): “It looks like it could be season over for Tyler Adams who has undergone hamstring surgery.”

And in his latest post for The Athletic [29 March], Hay gave an update on Leeds’ injury-stricken key men, including Wilfried Gnonto [ankle] and Max Wober [thigh].
He wrote: “All being well, Wober and Gnonto should not be absent for long, but the timescale for Adams’ recovery is less clear and, at this stage, no one can predict with certainty what part the midfielder will play in the rest of the club’s season.
“For the time being, he will sit at arm’s length and stew with the crowd as Leeds attempt to evade relegation.”
Bad time
The news of Adams’ injury could not come at a worse time for both the player and Leeds United as the club face extremely crucial upcoming games in the Premier League as they sit just two points above the drop zone.
The American’s absence leaves a significant hole at the base of the Whites midfield that Gracia will have to find a way to adequately fill if he is to keep his side away from the drop zone.

Both Marc Roca and Adams’ international teammate Weston McKennie now have a huge job protecting their defence but also providing the attacking players with the security to go on and score goals at the other end.
More crucially, hardly any of the club’s relegation rivals will have suffered such blows to their key players after the international break which leaves Leeds United in a much worse position than when they entered the two-week hiatus.
In other Leeds United news, a permanent exit from Elland Road is now being finalised.
