Tyler Adams says goodbye to RB Leipzig teammates as Leeds United move edges closer
Leeds United are closing in on a fifth summer signing after RB Leipzig coach Dominic Tedesco confirmed Tyler Adams has said goodbye to his teammates.
The Whites are looking to close a deal for the 19-time USA international midfielder as they look to replace Kalvin Phillips, who joined Manchester City in a £45m deal on Monday [July 4].
Now after agreeing a £20m deal including add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano, the 23-year-old midfielder is now set to join Leeds with a medical due to take place today [Athletic, Tuesday, July 5]. And according to Tedesco, it was the player’s wish to get a deal done.

“He said goodbye to the team on Monday,” he confirmed, as quoted by RB Live.
“The topic is so far through. He was very liked here, he’s a really good player and a fine character, it hurts to say goodbye.
“But you have to be honest with each other. If a player is unhappy with his playing time – we have an extremely large number of players in the centre – then you have to understand him and fulfil his wishes.”
Lovely
Leeds have acted remarkably quickly in the transfer market this summer and replacing Phillips nice and quickly is a testament to that.
Granted the club have known for a while about potential exits and had time to work on them, but it’s still a great comfort to fans that there is clearly a plan in place and it’s being executed.

Adams will bring plenty of energy and defensive nous to the Leeds midfield this season, and having played under Marsch twice before in his young career he will know exactly what to expect.
It’s also good for Marsch, who will bring the player to the club knowing exactly what his skillset is and exactly what his qualities are to be able to help strengthen the Leeds squad.
Now the attention can turn to other areas of the squad for Marsch to be able to help guide the Whites away from a potential relegation battle and further up the table instead after being backed massively in the window.
