Tyler Adams absent from Leeds United Tuesday ahead of ‘pending’ Bournemouth transfer

Tyler Adams has not been at the Leeds United training ground “all today” ahead of his “pending” transfer to Bournemouth, according to LUFCFANZONE.

The online Whites outlet, whose accuracy has previously been verified by former owner Andrea Radrizzani, reported via Twitter on Tuesday (15 August) that the USMNT captain hadn’t made an appearance at Thorp Arch as the Cherries look to sign him.

Andoni Iraola’s side triggered the midfielder’s £20million release clause on Monday after his move to Chelsea fell through, and he is reportedly keen on making the switch [Fabrizio Romano, 14 August].

The 24-year-old’s release clause expires before the end of the window [Phil Hay, 15 August] and he is currently out injured, but Premier League sides have been alerted to his availability by the collapsed Chelsea deal [David Ornstein, 12 August].

On his way

Leeds United might have dodged a bullet with Adams returning from London without a move to Stamford Bridge completed, but it never looked like it would be for long after that approach reached that stage.

Bournemouth have already proven to be a thorn in Daniel Farke’s side by swooping in to steal his move for former Norwich favourite Max Aarons at the last minute.

And compared to some of the teams linked to Adams he might be seen as settling for a lower level just to get away from Elland Road.

But the fact is that the Premier League is not the Championship and as an international captain it was always going to be a tough ask for the club to keep hold of him.

It looked at one stage like it might be possible due to the surgery he is still recovering from, and that remains an outside possibility in light of the Chelsea developments.

But given the huge sums of money being thrown around for central midfielders this summer any club in remote need of one can snap him up for a relatively low fee even if he is only available for half a season.

Assuming he goes it will at the very least finally bring in some decent money that Farke will hope to spend on reinforcements over the final fortnight of the window.

In other Leeds United, a bid has been accepted in the race for a striker who is a target across the Championship.
