Two more injuries after West Brom win

The win against West Brom was a significant one. It might be early in the season but the Baggies are very likely to be there or thereabouts at the business end.

Their display at Elland Road last night was more proof of how good they are under Slaven Blic, and they could easily have come away with a point last night.

Leeds are back on top but a defeat would have left them five points behind the Baggies in a league where it’s all too easy to lose touch.

So, a great three points but the game exacted a price.

Liam Cooper went off injured in the first half of the game and it didn’t look good. He hobbled off and looked distraught and while no news has been announced yet, we wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out for a period.

Jamie Shackleton was taken off at half-time and Bielsa confirmed after the game that he was injured, too.

So far this season, Leeds haven’t suffered too much from injuries. Both Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts made their returns last night.

Adam Forshaw and Pablo Hernandez could be back for the Millwall clash. That would just leave Shackleton and Cooper.

Forshaw would likely have replaced Shackleton even if the youngster had stayed fit.

Cooper is the big worry. Gaetano Berardi is the back-up and he was solid enough last night. After that, Bielsa will have to rely on Pascal Struijk, a 20-year-old who’s only featured on the bench for Leeds so far.

Putting Kalvin Phillips back in defence was a makeshift solution when we were short in the centre of defence last season. We hope it doesn’t come to that again.
