‘Trust me’ – Berardi claims ex-Leeds player who was sold by Bielsa is ‘worth a lot’
Gaetano Berardi has claimed that former Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira is “worth a lot” after he was sold by Marcelo Bielsa in 2018.
Sampdoria signed Vieira, 21, for £6.2million two years ago after the Leeds manager gave the green light for him to exit Elland Road.
Since heading to Italy, Vieira has made 38 first-team appearances for Sampdoria and played quite a bit role in their Serie A season this time out by starting 17 league fixtures.
Vieira is still a young player who is going to keep on improving for the Italian club, which is where Leeds signed Berardi, 31, from in 2014.
Berardi has been full of praise for Vieira and has suggested his transfer value is high.
“I met Ronaldo Vieira at Leeds before he joined Sampdoria,” Berardi told ClubDoria46.
“He is a calm boy but on the pitch he is very good, he is strong, he is a ‘little dog’.
“He is worth a lot, trust me.”
Berardi could be right about Vieira’s value.
He’s an England Under-21 international who is playing a lot of first-team football for a decent club in one of Europe’s biggest leagues.
He’s a central midfielder too, which makes him quite valuable for Sampdoria.
Maybe he’ll return to England in the future. Who knows? If Leeds win promotion back to the Premier League they may be able to welcome Vieira back.
In other Leeds United news, full-back Stuart Dallas has offered major praise to Elland Road team-mate Pablo Hernandez in a new interview.
